Gordon Lightfoot Tribute Concerts - Background

Since the early 2000s, Gordon Lightfoot tribute shows have become very popular. One of the first was a group of my friends who did a sold out show at Caffè Lena in Saratoga Springs, NY in March 2002; then came back the next year in April for two more sold-out shows(one a Lightfoot tribute; the other a "singer/songwriter" tribute).

Many others, both famous and not so famous, have been performing entire sets or shows of Lightfoot tunes - much to the delight of his fans. Lightfoot can't come to your town more than once a year, if that, but these other talented musicians provide a wonderful evening of music in the interim.

"Satinwood" Presents: The Legendary songs of Jim Croce and Gordon Lightfoot 3/26/2010

Friday March 26th Satinwood will perform the "The Legendary songs of Jim Croce and Gordon Lightfoot" at Amazing Things Arts Center. Music will include cello, woodwinds, piano, bass and, of course, guitar. Vocalist Paul Motter and his wife Melanie have been organizing these tribute shows for years; they have done tributes to Jim Croce, Gordon Lightfoot and Harry Chapin - all legends. These musicians are superb, and I can promise you a wonderful evening. As a sample, listen to this clip of Carefree Highway; as you can see (rather, hear), they are really good! The clip is from 2003, so some of the musicians are probably different, but this is a good example of how they will sound. You won't be disappointed.
